va -- Furusato: Early Enka 1930's & 50's [Tristes Humanistes Mixtape]


Here's a comp of haunting Enka music from Japan. Side A is all girls (except Fujiyama Ichiro) from the 30's, and side B is all boys from the 50's. The 30's songs have a crazier sound, but also the arrangement is wilder. The 50's recordings usually feature strings and the voice is louder in the mix.

The picture on the cover is that of Katsutaro Kouta.
